TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAM

OUR GOAL

Thank you for your interest in our teaching training program - we are excited to launch our training program this fall. The course is rooted in the Vinyasa Yoga System. Our mission is to provide each Yoga teacher a comprehensive understanding of Hatha yoga as well as skills and tools to design and facilitate a Vinyasa flow class. You do not have to be or want to be a teacher to attend. The information and experiences contained in this course will also benefit anyone already teaching as well as those wishing to deepen their personal practice.  Program participants wishing to teach will find a wealth of invaluable tools to share with their students.

Our Yoga Alliance Certified Yoga Teacher Training program is a practical training offering many opportunities to develop your individual voice and refine your delivery using clear language, focusing on alignment and intelligent sequencing. The training will provide a deep understanding of the body and how postures work with it. This will contribute to both increased confidence and skillfulness for effective, firm and safe hands-on physical adjustments when appropriate. The participants will learn two different Vinyasa routines; Edge I and Edge II, as well as the science of sequencing which supports the processes of creating an improvisational flow.

We will be offering a 200 Hour Yoga Alliance Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Certification. The first intensive class begins on October 20, 2008 and graduates on November 22, 2008. The first extended class is scheduled for January 17, 2009 and graduates on March 27, 2009. The program is offered in three modules taken either sequentially or in subsequent trainings. Additional training dates will be posted on the website.

The intensive program meets Monday-Friday 1 pm-5 pm for five weeks and the extended program meets Saturday & Sunday 1 pm -6 pm for ten weeks. Both programs require 45 hours of self-practice and 45 hours of supervised observation & assistance and the successful completion of all assignments, teachings and exams. You will be required to teach one of Yoga South's Edge flows and your individually designed Vinyasa flow to a group class.
